Greatwhite that is a nice flat fender in your last pic by the river. Tell us a little about it. Looks like a CJ2A but not entirely sure. Sorry to hi-jack the thread.
BlueXJ,
She's a 46CJ2A, the body is about all that is left. Frame went to scrappy, built new one myself. Wrangler leaf springs, Dana 44 Front w lockright, Dana 44 rear with warn full floater kit. Dana 18 with Warn OD, SM420, Chevy 4.3 TBI. OBA, OBS, Dual Alts, waiting to convert one to welder. Baja 480c, and jeeputer in progress with Ozi. It was built as a crawler and we mainly use it for weekend trips to get away from the crowds. Take trailer as with a 2a, we don't have the room you guys do

Thanks greatwhite That's what I thought. My very first Jeep was a CJ2A that I drove in High School. No top no side curtains and top speed was 45. It was all stock flat head 4 banger and death wobble if you hit a cigarette butt. But you could not get the thing stuck. I drove it into the edge of the Potomac river and the thing just backed right up as the river was coming in around my feet. In the winter the snow couldn't stop it either. We lived about a mile up a dirt road from the hard top road and my Jeep was the only thing moving when it snowed that is til I got the bulldozed started to clear out the road for other to get in and out. Great little Jeep. Wish I had it today.

It makes me cry when I see CJ's like that rolling! I've got a 46 chilling in the barn! Still has the PTO on the back! I want it SOO bad! Gramps won't let me have it!
Crappy picture but you get the point!

Looks to be in pretty fair shape. Want me to come talk to gramps for you.
Mine had a drum in the back to run a saw and a capstan in the front that was gear driven off the crankshaft.

It wouldn't do any good. It's been restored once back in the late 70s then was put in the barn when it kept blowing head gaskets. We need a cylinder head for it! He plans to retire in the next 5 years or so and wants it to be his project car. I'm sure he'll make it nice.
It'd have a 350 and 60's under it in no time if it were mine!

Is it the original flat head 4 banger. If it is the block may need to be planed down not the head. I think we had a Ford tractor that was a 8N if I remember and it kept blowing head gaskets and we had the head shaved to well within tolerances but it was the block which was off and needed to be resurfaced or planed can't remember the right terminology for it. Anyway after we got the block machined level it ran great and by that time it had a little more compression from all the machining. Best tractor we had til the big JD got to the farm.

Yes, It is the original flat head. Other than that I don't know much about it yet.
