Leaving my Jeep for 4 months
Hey ya'll, I will be working in Alaska for 4 months this summer. I'm going to leave my 2000 Jeep Cherokee parked outside while im gone. Any suggestions for this? I don't have anyone to start it or drive it around. It will be stashed in the woods. Thanks.

I would put a desiccant of some kind inside to keep it from getting musty then I'd do something to ward off animals that'll mess with them.
Why are you hiding it in the woods?

My biggest concern would be rodent infestation.

Are they filming the next season of Alaska Off-Road Warriors yet? I'd love to see an XJ run that race.
Rodents, rodents, rodents! Keep them out! They find their way in the craziest places and destroy things. Remember to check your intake before starting it in 4 months. That's a favorite nesting place.

Put some mothballs in an old sock and place it on the engine somewhere you can see it. Put a sticky note in the Jeep to remind you to remove them before driving it again.
Mothballs are toxic to mammals and should keep the rats, and other critters, from eating your wires.
I still can't figure out how they get in the HVAC blower chamber....but don't put mothballs inside the Jeep.

Wherever you stash it, make sure you can get another vehicle close enough to it to give it a jump if your battery dies, or that you can get a spare battery to it (without hiking five miles dragging a battery along). A good battery shouldn't have a problem, but you never know.

Ok, Thanks for the tips guys. Cant drive it to Alaska, Where Im going is not part of the road system and I'll be working 6 Days a week so no reason to pay all that gas. Parking it in the woods on my property so noone can see it from the road and get any ideas about that lifted jeep that hasnt moved. It will be covered with a thick tarp. Mothballs are a good idea. I will definitly disco battery. THanks again.

The MAX AC (Recirc Air Door) defaults open when its actuator loses vacuum, such as engine shut down or moving the mode selector to OFF. The recirc door being open closes off the outside air intake to the blower.

I also read somewhere that fabric softener sheets repel rodents. Apparently that's how some people keep mice out of their farm trucks. I doubt they would last as long as mothballs, but maybe that's a solution for the interior. Mothballs outside, dryer sheets inside. And the Jeep might even smell snuggly soft when you come back.

We have a huge problem with the County vehicles that don't get driven very often.
The rabbits chew on all the wiring, and the mice get inside and poop/pee all over inside.
We have tried a bunch of different remedies, and nothing short of mothballs seems to do any good.(they are very effective, but the smell is nausiating.)
The only product that is semi-useful is a product called "Fresh-Cab"
You can buy it at any tractor supply, or hardware store.

It is pleasant smelling, but it wears off , so we still had some mice inside a vehicle that sat for a long period of time.
Do you have a friend that you can park it at their house while you're gone?
