leaf spring bolts
 

Bought a 2" lift and new leaf springs to go with it and as usual when I tryed to change them I can't get the bolts out the only ones I'm concerned with is the ones on the front of the leaf springs because the nut is welded inside the frame so I really don't want to break the bolt off because of the rough time to fix it any suggestions I've sprayed them several times with lube and tryed some heat but don't want to catch it on fire

Everyone who's lifted an xj here knows what you're talking about haha. I got one of mine out ok but the other seized in the bushing and i had to cut the bolt then get the stub out of the nut in the frame. I had to use a breaker bar with a cheater pipe and turn the bolts like 1/8th of a turn at a time it was very tedious, just take your time.

lots of heat and pb blaster, might even have to burn the rubber out. make sure to check your floors so you dont catch your carpet on fire like i did!

I got the carpet loose just for that reason I heated it some but couldn't really get much on end by the nut cause of the springs I started to cut the springs off so I could get closer to the nut but it was getting late and that was my ride to work the next day so maybe when I get away from working 6 days a week maybe ill get it together

put plenty of pb blaster and try to loosen and tighten back and forth while adding pb blaster you will need to use a braker bar with a cheater bar. also take your time

Try to spray the PB Blaster through the holes that are in the unibody rails underneath the jeep. Another good investment would be the best 6 point socket you can find so you don't round off the bolt.

not trying to thread jack. but im gonna have to do this same thing... what do you use for a replacement? just any bolt?

i would recommend a grade 8 bolt the same size and length but you can get them anywhere

Cheater bars are your friends!!

The way that we got them on mine and my friends was to put a pickle fork behind the head the the bolt, then a huge breaker bar on that. Brace it against the frame and use every amount of strength you have to push it while someone turns the bolt

x2 on that, helps if you have air to spin the bolt while prying!
