Leaf spring bolt ?
 

I am putting a 3 in lift in a 1997 cherokee. Had to cut the back leaf bolts but got the front out. Should the bolt fit in the metal tube inside the leaf spring bushing or can there be some play? Put the old one in there and it has side to side play and would a half inch bolt work I know factory in metric.

I had to cut both of mine out. I brought the pieces to a machine shop and bought some new ones. They were about 2 $ a piece. The length and thread count wasa important, which is why i brought them. They measured them and all that.
