Laws?
Is this right? Some of the laws say no lifts above 4", I'm pretty sure that's broken every day. :dunno:
I could be wrong but... Just read some of the states lift height maximums..If this is the wrong section, move it. Thanks. http://www.roughcountry.com/lift_laws.html |
Yeah I am sure many folks break those laws. I know here in oklahoma lift laws are fairly liberal. Also those lift laws at that RC site may not be current.
|
Ah yeah, you raise a good point. Honestly though, I'm sure a cop can tell what size lift you got from 50 feet away and sitting in his car.

Most of the states with lift laws do not go by the lift size. They set the laws according to bumper heigth. That way it is a set standard for all vehicles, although some new trucks will exceed that limit right from the factory. The odds of being issued a citation for bumper heigth violation alone is extremely slim. It is usually enforced when the officer is in a bad mood and the vehicle owner is rude and uncooperative after being stopped for a different infraction.

bottom of the bumper has to be 31" from the ground... or somthing like that, the laws are for bumper hight not lift amount. its so if i hit you i dont go over you

It is different for each state that regulates the bumper heigth. In Tn it is only 28 inches. |
Here this link gives you every states lift laws and a few other laws too.

i know in pennsylvania you cant have fender flares exceeding 3 inches from the body line..and the tires cant stick out of that at all... the bumper has to be 16 to 20 on passenger cars im pretty sure and 16 to 30 on light trucks and suvs that includes the jeep. uhmm..there cant be more then 5 inches between your frame and your cab so that doesnt count for jeeps but anyone who has a truck or something they cant have a body lift over 5 inches in pa.. its not safe anyways i wouldnt do it anyways

CODOT just put in a roundabout here that would flop him over on his side in a heartbeat and it's speed limit is 15 mph. Three full-size lifted rigs have nearly flipped already. That much lift on the street can be foolish if not dangerous. Budd |

MN on the other hand... my sister moved up there in her ZR2 blazer on like 6in of lift and fat tires... she got a lift ticket, tires outside fenderwell ticket, and tint ticket all at once... she had JUST swapped her license over the day before... ended up selling it cheap to some kid that was gonna only play with it... sucks... looke good...
