Late model Instrument panel removal
I just pulled my IP to replace a dead bulb. The only information I could find was on the early models.
The IP on late model Cherokees is EASY! ( Sorry, no pics)
All phillips head screws are the same length
1) Remove the knee pad below the steering column--2 or 3 screws. Behind this you will find the steel lower dash.
2) Remove the steel lower dash--2 screws
3) Remove the Heat A/C --Radio trim. It just pulls straight toward you. no screws
4) Remove all screws that hold the fascia trim. IIRC, there are about 6-8.
5) Pull the fascia toward you. If it doesn't come easily, check for a screw you missed.
6) Remove IP. There are 4 screws--one near each corner. Then pull the IP towards you. This is the good part. Unlike earlier models, you do not need to reach up and disconnect the speedo, or anything. All connections are electrical, and the rear half of the connections are mounted to a rigid plastic panel. They disconnect as you pull the IP.
It couldn't be easier!
Installation is the reverse of Removal, ( I always wanted to say that!)
Actually, it is that easy. The electrical connection line right up, and you push the IP home to seat it. I would start up the engine and check that all gauges function, just to be sure.
