Like the title says, my hood release cables keep braking. When replacing, I lube all moving hood latch parts etc. and everything works great. Fast forward a couple of months and it's difficult to get the hood to pop. I've tried different brands of cables, same results. Before buying another latch, any hood parts or latches I can replace to make it open easier? Other suggestions?

I have been meaning to lube my cable for the longest time ever since I came across this tool.

Thing is I am a little confused on how to use it. One of the reasons that I have not done it yet. Maybe before you put in the new cable, thinking it would be so much easier with it not in the Jeep, try it out.

It's probably not the cable. Check the piece that moves that the end of the cable attaches to under the hood. Take the cable off and actuate the piece while spraying lithium lube into it. Reattach the cable before closing the hood.

Are the hood bumpers adjusted way high, keeping too much tension on the mechanism?

I have no idea. I don't know what or how to adjust anything under there. When I finally get the hood open, I'll try. Can you guide me on what to adjust?
