Change my adapter oil seals and took it for a test drive last night. I noticed when I came back there was a clear burning smell and saw there was oil on the bell housing and exauhst. I put a breaker bar on the wrench and turned the bolt on the adapter and was able to turn it two more half turns. I am guessing it was leaking more from not tightening it down. This morning I walked out and there was at least a quarter quart of oil on the ground and of couse I was short. I am sure it leaked when I test drove it the first time before I tightened it down. I just took it out for a another test drive and this time I kept my oil in the pan. I am still getting a drip though and I am hopping it coated the engine pretty well when I took it out the first time and it is still dripping off. Is it possible that that much oil could take a while to fully drip off. I have not had time to take it and wash the engine off and done really know when I will. Any thoughts and yea I believe I could have a RM leak also but I wil deal that later.

There is such thing as TOO tight. Overtightening a bolt will stretch it (causing it to get thinner – like stretching dough) and then it will not hold proper clamping force.
Having said that, there could be other issues at play. Did you compare the new o-rings to the old o-rings to make sure they were roughly the same thickness? Are you sure none of the o-rings slipped or bunched when you reinstalled the filter adapter?

The oil filter adapter seems dry but there is oil on the filter. I think it is leaking from the filter. I have a mopar filter from the dealer and I hand tightened it so I didnt wrench it on with brut force. I honestly dont know if I crimped the new seals in the adapter but because the adapter is dry I am guessing the oil on the filter is coming from the filter seal.
