Just bought my first jeep, need some help

Hi everyone, Just picked up a 97 Cherokee I have a few things to take care of before I put her on the road. The reverse lights don't stay on in reverse they light up for a second in between reverse and neutral....Where is the switch located?? I figure its just out of adjustment seeing they still work...

Thank you all in advance!

Hello,

I have had my Jeep about three weeks now and it is my first. I have had the front u-joints replaced; the thermostat, the serpentine belt, the radiator hoses and the heater hoses with a new valve. I had the rear brakes checked yesterday and the pads on the passenger side were gone. The cylinder on that side was leaking. I have changed out the drivers seat. I put in a reusable air filter. I will tune it up with new plugs and wires with new rotor and cap too. I just spoke to the tech who worked on it yesterday and he will install a new radiator and water pump too since I told him I am sick of dealing with the radiator I have now. My Jeep is a 1992 Cherokee Laredo 173xxx on it, and was not cared for at all before I got it. The 4 wheel drive, engine and tranny work great. I would suggest getting a tech to inspect it for you so you know what to watch for. I would pick someone you trust. Good Luck. I was going to get the rad flushed yesterday but since I have had so much coolant through it in three weeks we figure it could wait on the new radiator. I did replace the rad cap with a 13 lb one. My a/c does not blow cold air and that can wait until next spring. My rear wiper does not work. I did check the wire to the cig outlet and found a loose wire. Front speakers in the doors suck and will at the bottom of the list until next year.

Thanks, from reading other posts i think it might be the transmission range sensor, im going to take it apart and clean it up....see if that helps. As far as taking it to a tech thats the last thing on my mind I can do pretty much everything except automatic transmissions and computers. Im a ford mechanic but this is my first JEEP
