Just bought a 2door 93model 4 cyl cherokee 2wd
hi,
I am from australia and just paid $1200 for this thing.
I did not drive before i purchased.
Turns out this things clutch is not well, is it cable clutch which can just be adjusted? as it is not slipping, but not working well when put the foot on the gas.
it has 196,000 mile on it, 4 cyl. is this good?
how much would i be looking at spending for a new clutch for the old dog.
I want this thing to drive to LA. and Flagstaff.
Its aircon needs gas too, the guy claims and there is no radio in the thing.
have i bought a pussbox?

I previously owned a 93 2DR 4 banger 5 speed. I loved it. I sold it with 235,000 on the clock and it was running well, just lots of rust. i paid $500 for it with 170,xxx on the clock. You may have got yourself a good deal. If you don't take it offroad, and you want an xj for long drives- that's the right vehicle for you. Mine was dependable and I loved it. Drive it till to you buy a 4x4.

Well I would get a manual first. Then if you feel capable, after you have checked your clutch fluid level, go to your local parts source or check online for a clutch. Install and enjoy your jeep. Check and be sure it's your clutch and not your slave cylinder leaking first. Also it's a good idea to test drive first then purchase.
Get a aftermarket radio it's not too hard to install.
I'm not familiar with the 4 cylinder so I'm not sure about the mileage maybe somebody with a 4 banger will chime in and let you know.

Hydraulic clutch dude. May need to replace the fluid (dot three brake fluid) and bleed the lines. Get yourself a factory service manual, too. Private message me if you're interested.

oi, the clutch seems ok.
only problem is the RIGHT INDICATOR!
it clicks into LEFT, but not RIGHT, when you hold up there, not even a flash or sound
but it works on the hazards

X2 on cleaning the multifunction, i.e. turn signal, switch. Mine worked fine on the right turn but tripped the hazards on the left turn.
