junk h4 harness - better solutions

Hi guys, I ordered last fall a h4 harness from a place called eautoworks or something like that

well the harness was great for about a week, then my brights didnt work. Checked all grounds and connections which made no difference

I havent had brights since, replaced the relays 2 times with no difference

now my low beams are acting up. I luckily got them working temporary the other night otherwise i wouldnt have had any lights at all

Looking to replace the harness with something that will last more than 1 month

suggestions?

also maybe new headlights? suggestions on better replacements? I have sylvania silverstarts in there now...

Not saying the harness isn't at fault, but have you looked into the OEM headlight switch?

They are known to be really poorly designed, and the upgraded harness is just some wires and 2 relays. If you replaced the relays with the right ones and it still isn't working, I'd be curious about the rest of the components as well...

well when i unhooked the harness and put the old connections on....worked fine

I will try it again tonight just to verify

Do you have factory fogs? If so, you'll want to pull the factory fog relay and find another solution to get them working.

I forget about that factory fog issue. My bad.

I recently installed the Putco harness and relays. 1998 XJ 4.0

I don't have fog lights either, but still had the relay in the Power Distribution Block. I had to remove the relay to get my lights to act right. You might try removing that relay.

I also installed Autopal E-Code lights at the same time. Between the wiring upgrade and the new lights, it made an amazing difference in light output.

x2. I still have the factory sealed beams and they are AT LEAST twice as bright with the Putco!

I have the same harness and never had a problem. Why did you just sit on things and let it go instead of talking to the company you bought it from and get it replaced? Also, have you checked the high beam relay?

x2 have you checked for power into the relay connector as well as the connectors them selves ?

Go buy some wire and make your own harness.
