Jeeps completely dead.
 

Alright fellas. I own a 2000 cherokee that I dont drive to often maybe a few times a month. Put a new battery in it a few weeks past. We got snow today so it was a excuse to take the wife around in the jeep. Fired it up and let it warm up about 20min. Drove down to the store about another 20min. Came back out and eveything is completely dead. Couldnt even get the hazards to come on. Get a jump and drive it home. About 20min in town driving. Pull it into the driveway and turn it off. Try turing it back on and completely dead again. Gauge said alternator is charging and the alternator is only 2ish years old. Any ideas? I replaced the battery a few months back due to same issue. Hadnt had any issues since then. Im also sure i didnt leave anything on at the store.

First thing to do is check the terminals for corrosion and salts. Clean them up with a terminal cleaner brush, reinstall. Then check battery voltage

Do you know the voltage across the battery terminals? You'll need a voltmeter

as stated above, check battery voltage; if that's good then check voltage going to the main fuse block under the hood. Chances are if your battery is good, your not getting voltage from the battery to that fuse block. I just had a similar issue a few weeks ago, and it was just the original positive terminal - it was bad and was not carrying current to the fuse block.

Check the battery voltage. Check the alternator output. Check the cables and other electrical connections.

Just a suggestion on this, but you should start your own thread for this. It will make it easier for us to answer and not get issues mixed up

If it lets you start again after cooling, then I would drive it around again and conclude your trip where your tools are. When it doesn't start again after an hot soak, then you can troubleshoot it. I had similar symptoms once but with random shutdown and changing the throttle position sensor solved it.

If you lose all electrical power, including dash lights, the place to start would be major electrical connections, battery wires, PDC connection, grounds, ignition switch

I was going to say, all the connections/battery advice is great - definitely check that stuff, but don't rule out the ignition switch. A total power loss is exactly what I got when my switch went bad in my TJ.. I went through 3 or 4 switches on that jeep over 300k miles.
