jeep xj pulsating grinding noise from front and viberation

so recently ive noticed a grinding noise and viberation in the front end...only seems to happen when coasting down from 20 mph to 10 ish...it sounds like a tire rubbing but nothing is rubbing them...happens when going straight and turning...cant get it to replicate in 4wd while in the air..checked wheel bearings and those dont seem to do it

What kind of tires?

i had cupping / out of round tires causing this sound on mine.

If you take your tires off and roll them do they wobble?

lots of issues with those tires...not saying they are your problem, but i have had quite a few instances from customers and have heard from other shops that the federals split in half while driving..keep a close eye on them and inspect for cracks every now and then

Are they road tires? ATs? MTs?

The knobbier the tire, the more cupping will make the noise you are describing. How's the wear on front to back? Do you rotate them regularly?

Not saying it's for sure your tires, but it's a fast and easy thing to check for. Just trying to think of 'tire rubbing' noises that doesn't actually involve tires rubbing. I had bad cupping on some MTs and it for sure sounding like a growl when at slow speeds and slowing down.

When you say grinding... like a metal grinding sound?

they are MTs....the grinding is like rubber on metal....I'll rotate them and see if it stops....cant find anything in the front axle that could be causing this unless it was the diff but it's mostly a passenger side noise
