jeep wont start again
 

i got my 91 cherokee runnin the other day evrything was good ran awesome. i think my buddy touched some wires together now it will only turn over and if i feather the gas it wil spit and sputtter and act like it wants to fire. anbody got any ideas wat could make it do that.

....well, did your buddy cross a wire?? If so which wires may have touched. If you can get some clarity there, it may give you a direction to go in. Other than that, the CPS maybe? Test voltage at starter and alternator to see if signal is correct.

Edit- for clarifications sake, does it start at all? Or will it just turn?

alrite after toyin around with it i got it to start and run. it takes forever to start tho i hav to feather the gas and eventually after playin with it will run wont rev over 3.5 grand it will break up real bad as in like back firing. so i was thinkin it was the timing so i took it apart made sure my timing chain wasnt a few teeth off so i did that reset my wires and distributer and it does the same thing. its got me stumped at this point..

what wires were crossed sounds like tps issue

First, describe what your buddy was working on when he crossed wires. And he should be able to describe at least the area / circuit of what he was doing, right?? If this symptom started IMMEDIATELY after your buddy's adventure with your engine, you must look at the "cause and effect" principle, meaning what he did is likely related to what you are seeing. Gotta have details to nail this down.

Generally speaking, what you describe could be a fuel delivery issue. Backfiring is almost always a fuel/air imbalance.

Test your fuel pressure with a gauge installed on the schrader valve on the fuel rail. For a 91, you should have 31 psi at idle. Then disconnect the vacuum line leading to the fuel pressure regulator and the pressure should jump to approximately 39 psi. Be sure the vacuum line leading to that regulator is pulling good vacuum.

And if he was working on the throttle position sensor, that is also suspect.

im pretty sure he touched wana my positive battery terminal wires to something so i realy hav no direction for that problem. im gonna test the fuell presure an see is there anything else that would cause these problem is there anyway my motors not pullin enough vacum
