Default Jeep Won't Start - 95 Grand Cherokee

I am new to this site, a buddy of mine is in a little of a pickle. He just bought a new sound system(amp & speakers) but he was drilling a hole for the power wire to fit threw on the passenger side towards the door jam. While doing so he saw a spark and the interior light would flicker on and off when trying to move wires out of the way. I took a look under the dash where he was drilling an noticed the he had chewed threw 3 wires(these control the interior lights) and he also nicked two (8-4 gauge) wires one being black and the other red. They are not touching each other but I am guessing he must have shorted something by maybe the drill bit touching both at the same time. Now the Jeep will not start what so ever, when you turn the key everything inside comes on except the starter and who know what else. I tested his battery, all his fuses and those are the only wires I can have seen that were screwed up. any ideas. Much appreciated. He's at work so I gotta try and fix it cause its parked right behind my damn truck.

Great site by the way.

Idk the GC's to well, not to mention anything over a 2001... But, ill offer what I can think of!! Test signal at the battery, starter, alternator, dist. cap... Ummm... Did you check ALL fuses? Interior and under hood? Obviously repairing and then tracing the damage wires to where ever they go... Idk.. Somebody will have more... Good luck!

All fuses are good I check those last night, in dash and under the hood. I did not check signal to starter yet, Alt is new as well as the dist cap. I am in the process of removing the dash to have a better look at things. Thanks

BTW when turning the key all I hear from the engine bay is a click from the under hood fuse box if that helps.
