exhaust blockage, fuel system problems, spark plug problems, air intake problems...how well do you keep up with your maintenance?

Check your sensors and check anything that has to do with spark fuel or air
|
Check fuel pressure

Sounds like your transmission has a failure inside.
To put it in simple short terms...in automatic transmissions, when a shift solenoid fails the transmission may lock itself in what is called "default mode" and the computer will tell it to stay put in 3rd gear rather than automatically shifting it. However, you can manually shift it using 1-2,and then shifting to 3rd to hydraulically shift your trans. Hate to say it but you're looking at something within the transmission. From what it sounds like. |
