Default Jeep Engine trouble

I have a 1990 cherokee and it has a really bad engine knock sound. I was driving up the freeway, when all of the sudden I had a loss of power. It felt like someone slowly applied the parking brake. I limped it off the freeway and towed it home and it still runs, just has a bad knocking sound once I give it gas. Any ideas? Thanks

You need to have a compression test done...it sounds like you may have thrown a rod...I hate to say it though, but start at the compression test and see what that shows.
