I purchased a 1996 Jeep Cherokee Country about a month ago, I just found out that the Head Gasket is bad.

Here is my issue, the previous owner said that the engine had been replaced, but never said if it was from another 1996 or not.

I do have the engine codes that are listed on a sticker on the Valve cover.

They are:
9 352 4933 709527
plt/B/code yr/date Seq #

Should I assume this is from a 1994 when I buy parts???

 

Check the build date on the block if you want to be sure. The valve cover can be switched

 

Any recommendations on where that should be on the block?

 

passengers side below where the head mounts. Get a flash light and look. 96 engine casting number # 569 - 341 Head 0630.
