Default Jeep dead every morning

Hey guys, so this seems quite simple to me, my jeep is dead almost every morning and I have to jump start it. I'm 80% sure its from the nasty cold front we've been having here on long island. The battery will retain charge for a few hours like when I'm in school, but will die overnight. I just want to make sure that this is the battery and not the alternator that's causing this issue, cause if it was the alternator, I could shut it off for 10 minutes and I wouldn't be able to start it without jumping it, yes?

I just want input from more experienced jeep owners before I go out and buy anything

Most any parts store can test a battery & alternator. Good place to start.

I would take your battery out and take it to an auto parts store and they will test it for you to see if your battery is any good.

disconnect the battery overnight and reconnect it in the morning
if it starts, you have a electrical drain
if it doesn't, the battery is done

yes, that^.

If you have a drain, there is a nice youtube from Ericthecarguy on finding a parasitic draw. Kinda explains all regarding it.

Battery goes out a lot more than an alternator, but have it checked to be sure as mentioned above.

Sounds like a dead cell.

Well, went on a limb, went to autozone and bought a brand new duralast gold battery. Possibly the best investment I have made into my lifted turd.

So did you try disconnecting the old battery overnight to see if it would start the next morning? I am assumming you did and it still wouldn't start thus the new battery?

Nah. After getting input from us "serious jeepers", he went out and did what he intended to do anyway.

Trouble is, he bought one of the worst batteries on the planet.

without testing it? hope you didn't waste any money.. and the duralast doesn't crap out in a few weeks from a parasitic draw

it may seem to work great for a few weeks.. until the battery has had enough

C'mon... There are only a few battery manufactures in the whole of the USA. Chances are Johnson Controls made the Duralast. The brand means almost nothing. You're to intelligent for such a statement!

Newb: What should I do? I need advice!

Forum: Do [simple test] first.

Newb: I blew off the [simple test] and went out and spent some money! Thanks for the help!
