Jeep Cherokee Gas Mileage
I just bought an '88 Jeep Cherokee a few weeks ago, and I can't seem to get more than about 200 miles before I need to fill up again. I'm new to the Jeep world, and was just wondering if this is normal? If not, what can I do?

Your 1988 Cherokee is referred to as a RENIX model. A full tune up and check out of the engine control systems is your first step. This link will give you everything you need to know.

They had 2 different sizes of gas tanks for them. My 87 with 4.56 gears gets about the same mileage and I have the 20 gallon tank.

With my Renix I get a huge variation. I'm pretty careful and have accounted for tires, use multiple tanks ect. Upshot, 12-14 isn't unusual knocken around, getten firewood, maybe dealing with a trailer. Hwy 101 from the boarder has hills and towns, 250+ miles down to Santa Rosa. Got a high of 24 more than once, and normally over 20, and that's always with a pretty good load.
I attribute any high #'s to a new 02 sensor, the 746 injectors, my driving, (feather-foot here barely uses the brakes), and Cruiser's tips. (clean TB, TPS adjusted, good grounds ect.)
I put my tires up at 35# for highway trips, then down to 28# for my washboard, potholed road.
