Default jb weld on exhaust?

ok. i have a leak in my exhaust manifold. cracked right at the collector. no room to weld it..but maybe jb weld and some metal tape and a clamp? this is just temporary until i can save to do a complete exhaust overhaul.... but is it worth the trouble?

Unless you can thoroughly clean it of all grease and oil and scuff it up first It probably won't hold.JMO

Vibrations will prob rattle it off. But it might hold for a little while as long as you clean the manifold down to the bare metal and let it fully cure before you start it again.

Breaking/cracking there is a common problem.

I would just wait until you can replace the whole manifold. Anything else is a waste of money and time.

I tried this once and the JB weld gets so hot that it became very brittle and basically just started crumbling off. Also, the smell of hot, smoking JB weld is terrible.

get one with a flex piece in the manifold, that will save you from ever having to do the job again.

it's a poor factory design, and if you use jb weld, or a welder for that matter, it will just crack again.

try some "water weld" made by JB weld. I used it on my buddys transmission and its an amazing solid seal. you cen get it anywhere you get j b weld. its like 4 bucks.

Transmissions don't get nearly as hot as an exhaust pipe. Or have to contain/direct hot gases.

See the posts above.
