My 1994 XJ has had problems starting and if I pumped the gas it would eventually start. Then one day it wouldn't start at all, so after some research I figured it could be a couple issues, one of the main ones being the fuel pump. So I replaced that and it still didn't start, had my brother try to turn it over so I could hear if the pump was even getting power. Sadly, it isn't...

So through research I found it could be either the relay or the crank position sensor. Tested all the relays and replaced the sensor, still no start. Anyone got any ideas on how to troubleshoot this further?

 

If that's the case, you probably have wiring issues. You'll likely need to trace the wires to figure out where it is dropping out. I'd start with cleaning up the connections at the PDC (and grouds, etc. if you haven't already) and then go from the fuel pump connector and work your way back.

 

Having wires break off at any connector underneath the jeep is common. Look at the back side of the connector for green corrosion or any breaks where they are crimped into the terminals. If you replaced the fuel pump, you could possibly have broken one in the process, so now a weak pump was replaced by a good pump that's not getting power. It happens. Ask me how I know.
