Isuzu Dana 44 internals and gears + Xj Dana 44 housing=

So I have a Dana 44 our of an xj that is just the housing. My friend has a dana 44 out of an isuzu. My question/goal is will the internals (ring and pinion) and the brakes off the isuzu fit on/in a xj dana 44?

Also I know the isuzu is a six lug is it possible use the 5 lug axle shafts out of the xj dana 44 with the carrier, ring, and pinion from the isuzu and just get a different rotor to fit the disc brakes from the isuzu..

TIA.

Derek

if they are both Dana 44's then the internals should be the same... so you need to measure the axels and spline count .... thats about all i know...

Dana built all sorts of bastard 44s! The early Rubicons had 44s that were not as heavy duty as the Scout and Wagner Dana 44s The Grand Cherokee has a piece crap that is aluminum and is prone to coming apart.
If I wanted to rebuild the XJ Dana I would just buy a new R & P and a master rebuild kit, 35 spline shafts, a locker, and do it right.
