Iron Rock Long Arm Kit.
 

Hey guys i have been looking at the Iron Rock long arm kit. I would just be buying the long arm upgrade kit. Anyone have any good or bad stuff to say about it? Thank

I helped my freind out the kit on, and I have to say I'm concerned that there are only 6 bolts holding everything on the Jeep. It has you tap an existing hole in front of the two pre-existing x-member bolts, and that is what holds the new x-member in place. The new x-member supports the LAs, and I just feel that it needs more hardware holding it in. The kit itself seems very well built, and heavy duty, and this is my only concern about it. I have not seen it in action yet, and I may be concerned about nothing at all!!

Well I was pretty interested in finding out how the kit was myself, as I had never heard anything about IRO... I helped a friend of mine install the full LA lift kit while I was in Germany and it performed flawlessly... He drives 50+ miles a day to and from work, and wheels almost every weekend in everything from mud, trails, and even some pretty decent rock crawling, and has had no issues with the peformance of the kit or the X-member... I am going to purchase this LA upgrade for my Stage 2 build for my XJ when that time comes...

Ya i haven't heard about any problems with it either? By the pics i have seen posted up on the net it seems to preform very well to. It seems that a lot of people have the kit and i just can't seem to dig up anything bad about it so that must say something i guess.

i bought the long arm upgrade to add to my re 5.5 kit, wheeled all last weekend without any issues. on the road it rides and handles awesome.-andrew

If you need more than 6 bolts or feel that its not enough there is nothing wrong with breakin out he welder and making sure it never comes apart....

i would weld the x-member in once you bolt it up and align everything.

looks like a pretty good kit at a decent price, the only thing i can see that i don't like is the caster adjuster. i'd rather have adjustable links, myself.

but, i'd weld that x-member in there for the added strength and security.

Ya that is what i was thinking about the cross member also. I think that i am going to have to save some cash and get the upgrade kit. I would like to get the adjustable option but that sucks it is another $100 tho!

i got the adjustable option, its nice to have cuz it allowed me to center my axle for the amount of lift i have. the only draw back i've found with the entire system is not having a wrench big enough to properly tighten the jam nuts at the adjusters. plus at the lenght mine are set at the jam nut sits just inside the crossmember making it difficult to get too.
