The intake on my 89 is in the stock place right on the nose
is there any good cheap way to move it
so i dont get water in the intake and my motor again! lol

I ran mine through my firewall into the cowl. it cost me about sixt bucks. But my filter is allows dry and is always getting colder air. I love it. go to www.ericsxj.com and scroll down and follow his write up. It does add a little noise to the cab but not noticeable after you get use to it.

I have also noticed an improvement in acceleration.

Did you cut a hole in the firewall to run the intake through? If so, that is not a good idea. It is called a firewall for a reason and it is a safety issue to cut unneeded holes in it.

it is the area in the cowl not the cab. the same area where your wiper motor is. It is not an issue if you seal up your hole like I did and many others have.

That area of the cowl is the frash air intake for your cab as well. Inside the cowl on the passenger side is where is draws outside air for the vents in your heat/air system. A hole even in that section of the fire wall could allow large amounts of smoke into the cab if a fire should occur under the hood. I know what you are going to say now, it will draw smoke in through the cowl anyway. Maybe so, but you are providing or more direct route for it and it could reduce your visibility and the amount of time that you have to safely maneuver the vehicle to the side of the road.

ok well that was the cheapest option that even people with snorkels. have went with because it is a great spot for it.

So go buy your four hundred dollar snorkel. or stick with your wet air filter.

I agree with you as far as a more direct route for the smoke. But I am pretty sure if your vehicle is on fire your not gonna be in it long enough to enjoy the smoke.

No need to get defensive. I'm not making negative remarks about you or your idea. Just simply stating the facts. There are ways to build a homebrew snorkel that goes through the fender without cuting the firewall or spending a ton of cash on the name brand kits.

not defensive at all. this is a discussion forum and I love good discussion. but I added the cost between the cowl air intake and a homebrew snorkel. i considered both myself cause i am not a rich man by no means. But the snorkel ended up costing around thirty dollars more and all that hacking into your fender is not worth it. Plus drilling mounting holes in your A pillar is not a good Idea.
