yes all of the interior from the 96 will swap over.... the only thing that wouldn't without mod. is the cluster.. if your current cluster has dummy lights and not gauges then you'll have to replace a few sensors..

Wait wait wait. Hold up a minute. You are telling me that since I have gauges and not idiot lights. the WHOLE interior from a newer Cherokee will swap over into mine?

no i'm saying thats your only snag..... everything will swap without modification..... headliner, dash panel, floor trims, side trims.... door skins.... etc etc....
some of the 89's don't have gauges, they have those dumb light-up bulbs for when somethings to hot/low etc..... if you were to swap it then you would need a new temp gauge sensor (gauge style) and you would also need a new oil pressure sensor (again gauge style)

thats what I was asking, if the interior would swap over from a newer Cherokee into mine without modification. I happen to like the way newer Cherokees look but don't like OBD2 or all the complicatedness that comes with 96 and newer vehicles.

the op is asking if newer will fit in his 96......that would be 97+ interior.....dash doesnt just bolt right in.....guages are all different. need 97+ wire harness, computer, sensors manifolds.......and so on.
you also have to make new mounts for the dash cause they mount different.
center console will go in with no probs. dash is a huge PITA.
there was a similar thread started today or yesterday.
