98 GC limited 5.9. Dead instrument panel. I need help. I have it out. It only has ABS light and head light back lights. So, it has power? Just dead, no gauges working. Where do I go? cleaned terminals. Tried plugging it in and shaking. Nothing. Is it some module? Everything under hood is tight. Everything under dash is tight. Jeep was wrecked, center bumper. Replaced intercooler and radiator. Not my Jeep, but fairly good old school mechanic, so please don't powder. Is it a computer issue? Old school guys like me have problems with computers crap, but understand where we are. Here it is. What would stop all gauges, leave me with ABS light and dash lights. Please help.

Are you able to successfully communicate with the computer using an OBD2 device of some sort? Something might be knocking out the CCD bus that much of the gauges depend on. This will sometimes also present itself as a failure to connect when using a handheld OBD2 scanner.

Friendly reminder: this is the Jeep XJ forum. But the response I gave would still apply generally.
