Installing hitch without nut strip

So I've got this entire week off for prom and I want to get my hitch on.

Do I have to buy the nut strips like the ones from jcr? Because if I do, the hitch isn't gonna make it on this week :(

I'd say you don't need the nut strip 100%. But you'll need nuts, washers, and a whole lot of patience to get it all lined up. Then a method to stop the nut spinning, maybe a long thin strip of steel to act as a spanner. Removing the bumper will help.

I've pulled metal down the frame rails to act as nut strips, worked out good.

with just nuts and washer i would not use it for any hard pulls ,the nut strips make it much stronger jm2cw

yes you will need it. You can make your own, they are pretty plentiful at the JY as well

So just look for a xj with a hitch and it'll have it?

I'm assuming you have to remove the bumper to get them.

remove bumper and theres gonna be a rivet your gonna have to deal with then they slide out the slot in the rear frame, and get the exhaust bracket

How do you supposed I get the rivet out at the junkyard? Hand tools only.

And what's the deal with the exhaust bracket?
