Did the rotor move at all from its original position?
if it worked before and it doesn't now it invloves what you changed.
Make sure you are getting GOOD spark. Make sure the bolts holding down the cap are tight.
Make sure the rotor is at the right spot.

If you changed the actual DISTRIBUTOR, you'll have to make sure everything is 100% aligned the way it was when it was taken off. If you just replaced the cap/rotor, you really should be fine in that respect...the rotor only slides on one way. I would make sure your firing order is correct and no wires are on the wrong terminal, etc.

Check to see if you put the distributor in at 180 off. We did this and are still reaping the 'benefits.' If it sounds like it's backfiring through the intake this is probably your problem. Seriously, if you're one or two teeth off it's end game until you fix it. Even if you're 180 off you'll have spark, but it'll be on the exhaust stroke rather than the compression stroke. Check it out, can't really lose when you've already got 4,000 lbs of dead weight in your driveway.

You'll wanna check any electrical connection that got wet. Maybe water got somewhere it wasn't suppose to be, although unlikely.

If you smell gas I would guess you have a spark problem. If you changed the dist I would make sure you did not put in in 180 off. also check to make sure the wires going to the coil control mod did not come loose
