Initial start up problems
I just bought my first xj yesterday, its an 01'. If it' warm, when you go to start it you have to give it full throttle and it'l crank right up. If it's cold, it'l start up fine without doing so. My cel is on, says I need to replace the leak detection pump. Could that be what' causing the problem? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

You definitely need to resolve all the CEL issues first and foremost. I would start with checking any electrical wiring and/or vacuum hoses before replacing any part, especially since that fuel vapor leak detection pump is pretty pricey.
Check your wiring and hoses and you have to, replace that pump to get the system back to proper function. If you still have issues we can go from there.
