Default Inconsistent oil pressure.

97 XJ 4.0 and I've been greeting weird inconsistent oil pressure from my gage. One day it'll be up to 80 when I accelerate, the next day it will idle around 10 and barely past 20 when I accelerate. Sometimes the needle will bounce around. Sometimes it runs normally. I just replaced the sending unit so I don't think that's the issue but it's a possibility.

Check it with a mechanical gauge. What brand sensor did you use? Mopar is always best. The XJ can be quite fussy with aftermarket sensors and such.

Agree with all of above from fb97xj1.

A mechanical gauge will give you absolute confirmation of your oil pressure.
