improvised rear shock mount ideas
the rear right top mount for my shock broke. the bolts broke off inside and i dont have a drill or tap and die set. i bought new shocks and used the plate that it came with and tried to weld it to the old mount location and the weld broke about a mile down the road. anyone have any ideas about how to get this to work? i think i just might need more surface area contact. anyone have some ingenuity?

punch/drill out the broken bolts and just use a nut and bolt.

i used a drill to drill the old bolts out then used a 2 inch hole saw to get to them from the top of the floor now i don't have any issues with the bolts any more

check this out if you have an angle grinder ^^^. this is what i did. alot of xjs have this problem. another way is to punch them out and then get a thin wire, wrap it around the new bolt and fish it through the hole from the access hole which is to the right and left of either side of where the shock mounts are. right side its on right. left side its on left. good luck:thumbsup: |
