Im gonna put a new 4.0 in my 91, anyone had success with online engine suppliers?
I did a search and there are some companies online that offer 4.0s shipped to your door with a warranty....anyone used some of these folks? They are way cheaper than my local maching shop. What should I look for in a rebuilt motor? Any other advice?

Engine: 4.0 with all of the noise and clatter
I've used Jaspers engines and transmissions in the past. The engines did better than the transmissions.

I just hit the bone yard for a wrecked xj, I bought a 96 4.0 for 400 about 3 years ago and its still strong. I may be jaded though cause I bought a jasper 2.9 ford v6 that ran about 4 months past warranty before it started death rattling.

I got a 4.0 from a place in Fort Smith, Arkansas. I'm somewhat OCD so I took it all apart and measured everything just to make sure it was put together right, and it was perfect. It would have cost more for me to have my block and head machined and to rebuild it myself, so thats why i ordered a reman'd from that place. Flightline is the name of the company. Their prices are real good too.
