Ignition went out. Need answer quick!
I have a 95 4.0 and my ignition went out. It start but once I let go of the key and it turns to the run position the jeep turns off. What parts do I need to get and is there any way for me to get it started to get to a parts store?

not the switch
I'll bet it is not the switch.
For a 1995, there is little difference between key ON and key START position for the computer, injectors fuel pump.
Sounds more like the PCM is not counting the RPMS correctly.
Simple check, with key on, do the guages read correctly? Shows fuel in tank? Radio work?
Then the key switch is OK.

When the key is in the position were the gauges radio etc should be on they're not but when in the running position they do work. When I was just messing around with it I got it to start and run. It's just a matter of getting the key to stay in the right place.

Sorry for that info i have a 90 and the ignition switch is mounted on the exerior of the steering column and has a rod going to key switch and it is adjustable. It looks like yours is in the the column behind the key switch.
