Default ignition switch questions...wiring...

'95 Sport, auto, 4wd, 4 Dr. 4 L.

Found out why it wouldn't start (from a prior thread)...put key in it would buzz, but no blower, turn signals, etc.

There was a wire spliced in directly under the ignition switch (took the top and lower covers off). It's the 'black' (not sure if it is original or not) wire that enters the ignition switch at the point nearest the driver. It was spliced to a larger/thick wire in the rest of the bundle of wires that enter the ignition switch (various colors). I saw the corrosion, wiggled it a bit, and the blower came on (and it started when I turned the key).

Does anyone have a pic or link to the proper ignition wires for that vehicle...want to re-do the splice (I'll have to follow the wires back a bit, but didn't have time tonight).

Thanks!

The dealer may have an ignition switch pigtail so you can replace the plug and about a foot and a half of the harness. There was a problem with the accessory circuit wire (pink/black tracer) getting hot and melting the plastic at the plug and burning the terminal. In some cases the lower column cover would have a melted spot on it from the wire. Chrysler issued a repair harness with a thicker gauge accessory circuit wire, this may help you out some.

Default Thanks.

I think both of those may help some...I'll have to check it out. It's a bit lower on the priority list (for now). Still have to do the front U joints, pull the rear brakes (and replace?...not sure if I need to yet..just getting ready to get it inspected in the next week or two)...then the windows and power locks, install the stereo...etc...
