Default Ignition has me stumped

I've searched around the site. Maybe I missed something. Anyways. Here goes.

98 Cherokee Sport.
Ignition is hot wired with a button. you have to turn the key, push the button. Fires up no problems. Obviously I don't want that. It's dangerous. So, I replaced the cylinder lock. No hangs to anything. Replaced the ignition switch, it actually made it worse. I turn the key forward, there's no difference as before. Car doesn't crank. But now the car won't turn off! Haha. I have to disconnect the ignition switch in order for it to turn off. Any ideas on what or how to fix it? Also, what's the part called between the cylinder lock and the ignition switch?

The vehicle did have a security system in it. It was completely disconnected and taken out. Any wires that were tapped into are good and connected back together. Thanks in advance.

Got a wiring diagram of the mods that were made?

No because I took them all out so that I'm back to stock. Minus the "hot wiring"

I may have it!!! There was an old security system installed. We'll sort of. Some of it was missing so I took it out. Alpine SEC-8028. Could that be my ignition issues? If so, any idea what my next step is?

Wrong forum. This is for aftermarket electronics, not basic electrical problems.
