can a ignition coil work intermittently?

im my jeep it made it fall on its face during accel but eventually just went out

just wore out i guese they just cut in and out on him going down the road and i told him what i thought it was and happened to be right but it just a process of elimination

Try the CPS Crank Position Sensor if it just stalls for no reason then restarts. I had same problem with my 94 and after replacing the CPS it does not stall anymore...http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoCPSchange.htm ...Tj
