Or, you can look for a purple wire with a yellow tracer in the drivers door harness and test for current ( I wouldn't recommend this route).
The most effective and least headache-producing route is to go aftermarket for security; the factory units are notorious for being problematic.

Yep. There are tons of good alarm systems out there, and all but the very lowest bottom end will let you open your doors automatically.
