If I end up buying a remanufactured A/C compressor do I HAVE TO hook up the refrigerant lines or can I just leave it disconnected and not worry about it seizing up on me? the reason for getting a reman. A/C is because I cannot find a used one to buy nor do they make a bypass pulley for my year XJ. OR if any of you that read this have one to sell, let me know!

If you leave the lines off, and the caps on, and do not hook up the clutch you will in effect just have an idler pulley.
I would seal off the A/C lines to to keep contaminates out of it.

when you say do not hook up the clutch you mean the electrical part or literally take the clutch off (unscrew it)

just the electrical wires.
The clutch shouldn't engage any way without pressure in the system. But its just in case.

you should turn that a/c pump into an on-board-air compressor. it's simple and cheap.
