idle issue?

idle issue?
Ok so I have a 87 xj and most of the time when I start it it'll idle really high for minutes sometimes as long as 10 mins.. any ideas?

Just went through the same thing on the '88 I got, looks exactly like yours. When's the last time you did plugs and all that jazz. Clean your iac, and throttle body. Check your vacuum lines. I started going through cruisers renix tips and have been "re-freshening" electrical connections and just finished a tune up and she idles like a dream

Last time I did plugs wires cap and rotor was like 15000 miles ago so like 3 years just a weekend toy. Also cleaned iac and throttle body bout a year ago actually replaced iac

Sounds like TPS issues with poor grounding issues.
Click on the Pink Link below and do Tips 1 through 5. Heck, I'd do 27 instead of 2 actually.
