On a '91 XJ Laredo with 4.0 and 5 speed I have a connector in the engine compartment that I cannot identify. It has one wire and is not coupled to a mating connector. Anyone know what this is for? It is located on the passenger side inner fender area near the battery and cruise control actuator. The connector has a single wire that comes out of a factory looking harness that goes on to the header panel below the headlight. I don’t believe it is the horn wire as there is a connection there now. All front lights including fog lights work as they should. I know that later model years have a battery temperature sensor but this one does not.

Cruise control does not work but I believe there is only one connector involved with it and it is in place.

In one photo it is resting on the hood prop rod retainer for ease of taking the picture.

Did European models have a fender side marker light? Could this be for that configuration (This was a California delivered vehicle)

Thanks for your ideas.

Not sure with the older models, but it is in the right spot for the battery temp sensor on newer models.

UK models do have a fender indicator however the connector is a 2 pin and comes out of the front lighting harness directly near the headlights.

No real info here but I am sure wiring harnesses have options that you may well not have. Not rare at all to have mysterious connectors here and there.
