ideas in locking rear diff????
 
hi i wanna make my 1990 cherokee 4.0L have a locking rear diff can anybody help, what should i use and im kinda strapped for cash right now so anyone got any suggestions

you have a D35 rear, so i wouldnt lock that.. since it'll break with any tire larger than stock. if you plan on swapping axles soon (29 spline 8.25"s are common junkyard finds, and plenty strong and bolt in) just weld that sucker up til it breaks.

Gonna have to agree. Screw the D35. Swap it for a 8.25. I'm surprised how strong the 8.25 is. But again, does depend on what your wheeling. If your just mashing around in the sticks, you should be fine with that D35. Wouldn't run any crazy tire size tho.
I personally installed a trutrack locker in the rear of my 99 XJ. I like it. It works fine. I'd like to get electronical lockers.
From experience though. Do things right. don't do it half a$$. You'll save yourself money in the end and have a better rig as well.
You don't need D44 axles with detroit lockers. The 8.25 is a kick butt axles and the D30 is dope to when beefed up a little bit.
