IAC, TPS and Trittle bodies:
Well, figured out last night that the IAC motor was bad and the throttle body needs a first class cleaning.
For those with the experience, would you either recommend or otherwise suggest a full TB cleaning through an R&R, TPS replacement along with the IAC, or how would you go about it? |
I would not replace the TPS unless it is acting up too. as far as cleaning I would pull it from the manifold and use throttle body cleaner and an old tooth brush to clean off the tough stuff. If you want to dip it in a parts washer then you will have to re-grease the bearings for the shaft at both ends. make sure you clean out the were the IAC mounts to this is were the tooth brush will really help.

Are there additional o rings in the IAC cavity? |
nope just the one that is on the main body of the IAC. The inside of the bore has a slight taper on it to match the end of the IAC but that's it.

Changed out the IAC... OMG what a difference!!!!!
She has never run that good before!!! Now... I switched out to a new IAC, but she is still idling high... Around 1200 rpm.. What's next to drop the idle? |

Negatory on the pintle.
just put it in. The old IAC looked like it was suffering from permanent Viagra-itus. Now following the rules, and if I understand this correctly: Pull the pos. side cable and ground it to de-energize the caps in the computer. Then re-attach, turn the ign. to "On" but don't start, then turn on and turn off the lights once and turn the ig. back to off and that should clear the memory.. Correct? |

Just throwing this out there... I make throttle body cleaning a yearly maintenance item; not just on my jeep but all my vehicles. It's cheap and easy preventive maintenance, so just add it to your yearly to-do
