I want my exhaust a little louder?

okay, so I just put on a new Dynomax Super Turbo cat-back, and I really like it. I was just wondering if there are any other changes or additions I can make to make it a little bit louder, not real loud though. I haven't customized anything else with the exhaust or air intake. Thanks for any info.

Also, do these exhausts get a little louder over time?

just wait the dyno max Turbo is a Fiberglass packed muffler so once it wears in it gets louder.

Thanks for the info. I was wondering about that. I have only been running it for about a week, but I figured it would probably get louder with time.

By the way, I see that you have both a K&N FIPK and a 63mm TB. Those were going to be my next upgrades. What are your thoughts on those?

I remember years ago (1976), my father had a Mercury Montego Station Wagon. He put dual exhaust (Glass Pack) mufflers. He to wanted it a little louder, so the technique back then was to get them hot and then hose them down with a garden hose. This breaks up the glass fibers. When my Dad was on a open stretch of road, he'd open it up and say he was blowing it out. This would blow out the loosened fibers and over time, it got louder and louder.
Give it a try and let us know.
Enjoy!!!!

I couldn't get away with taking the cat off here in MD. They have real tough emission laws, and I would fail!

I have both, i've never driven without the FIPK, the Jeep came with it. The bored over throttle body made an ok difference though, a little bit more low end power.

Yea, I have no cat right now and NEED to put one on. Not only for legality, but because I have no backpressure because the stock muffler was chambered and the new one I have is straight through. I have 0 backpressure and my Jeep is almost torqueless until like 2500 RPMS. I barely use 5th gear right now.

You would fail without a cat anywhere in the US.

Actually, I passed inspection without a cat. The O2 sensor was plugged in and zip-tied to the exhaust hanger. Not encouraging anyone to take their cats off, though. And mine's a 1996 which means OBII, so they scanned it and it still passed.

ill trade ya, mines about to fall off :cursing:

that wasnt advise....it was a suggestion.

The only reason the cat was off mine was because the PO took it off because it was mainly a trail rig. That's a good thing to look for when buying a DD... When the PO tells you he only beat the crap out of it on the trails and rarely used it on the roads.
