4" and up you'll most likely need the sye. some here have had decent results with a t.c. drop, but each jeep reacts differently too suspension changes. bottom line, if you get vibes - you need the sye.

every jeep reacts differently to lift. what year is yours? it seems that the older XJ's can withstand more lift and not need an SYE. install the lift and go from there..

if you do get serious vibes after the lift it would be advised that you remedy it. IMO an sye is the best thing in the long run (if you have the money), and a tcase drop is a band aid. it has never made sense to me to lift a vehicle, and then lower one of the most important parts that you were trying to give more clearance in the first place.

I've seen plenty of people run 4+" of lift without one but I've also seen them drop the shaft out of the t-case when flexing the rear suspension. If you plan to wheel it buy a SYE and new drive shaft.

mine is a 96

Transfer case drop is a temporary fix. It comes with the RC kit, but still recommended you switch to an SYE as soon as possible.

how long of a fix is it

Depends on if you plan to wheel it or just mall crawl. If you wheel it start saving up now for a SYE and shaft.

Lift it first. If you have vibes drop the transfer case until you get a sye. Three simple steps. :)
