i have a ravelco security system and i dont know if its the problem

I'm really hoping for some insight on this one. So i have this Ravelco security system in my XJ and I have on a few occasions had it not start for about five to ten minutes but it does turn over. It will also randomly die while I'm driving it, but I can just pull off to the side and it will ussually start up again. I don't know how it's installed or where and when it was installed or if it was done right. I tried to research it but i didn't come up with much. i couldn't find a wiring diagram or anything. I would just like to know if this could be the source of my problems. And if it is the problem would you know how to take it out. I was told it's wired into almost everything under the hood. Thanks for the help.

all depends on the system. I've seen ones where they just splice into wires under the steering column and I've seen ones that some wires get cut and routed through the security module itself.

One thing to try is the next time it doesnt start, pull the fuses for the alarm. They should be in fuse holders that look like this, or something similar. Sometimes that will diable the alarm and still allow the vehicle to start like normal.
