Hyper Power Steering?
I could steer my XJ with a tooth pick. It is too easy to turn the wheel. It is very responsive which is good, it is just so easy to turn that when you are riding down the road you cannot really rest your hand on the steering wheel because every bump will be translated to the wheel and steering. Is there a way to tone down the power steering? It is a 94 with a 4 inch lift. Doing a front alignment on it using the write up found on the gojeep websight here http://go.jeep-xj.info/HowtoAlignment.htm. Right now my angle is 89 degrees. It was 90 before I added the 2 shims I made and need to make more. Related issue?

The steering box and arm are stock. I replaced the steering dampener and installed a 4 inch lift. I am just trying to get the steering and alignment corrected now.
I guess it is not such a bad thing, getting used to it now. I bought the XJ and immediately took it off the road to install the lift so I really don't have a good comparison to how the steering felt before I did the work. Meanwhile I drove my Subaru around, the steering is tight and a bit stiff. Going to how the Jeep steers was a big change.
I added 2 shimes to my lower control arm which brought my differential cover from 90 degrees to 89 degrees. Now at least the steering will return to center after a turn without forcing it back. I still need to add more shimes to try and get the angle to around 87.5. Then its off to the shop to have it checked.
