HVAC controls. stuck on defrost vent only.

so i just bought the car and the guy said he couldn't change the mode of the HVAC. so we couldnt change the the flow to front vents or bottom vents etc. So I've been reading and a lot of issues come from a vacuum leak. i searched hi and low and did not find any leak. next was testing the HVAC controls. everything was working fine and power to it was good. while removing the HVAC head from the console the hoses fell off releasing it from the HVAC face. the problem was then revealed . the piece inside that directs the vacuum to what ever vent you want was somehow backwards. don't know if previous owner did this or what.... just thought some people who've tried everything else might wanna know another way of diagnosing the issue ....the red/orange part should be facing the vacuum lines and the silver part should be against the spring then onto the HVAC unit

Got any pics of your Comanche? I've been looking in Craigslist for one - no luck so far. |
