'96 seat belt light stays on
I did plenty of googling but most of the typical responses said to just unplug the harness or pull the bulb. Neither are valuable responses in my book, I want it to work as it was intended to.
Anyway, this is a 1996 Cherokee Sport 2wd. I bought it for $500 bucks with a cracked head and got it back running again but noticed the seat belt light never goes out even with the belt buckled.
The crazy obnoxious seat belt warning buzzer stops as soon as you buckle the belt, which leads me to believe the buckle is working as designed.
I know this jeep doesn't have a airbag light, so what else could cause it to stay illuminated? It doesn't flash at all, just constantly stays on the entire time it's running. The driver side seat has been replaced with one from an unknown year but I don't think the 96 model had seat pressure sensors anyway, maybe i'm wrong though. The seat is very similar to the ones I had in an '89 cherokee sometime back, but with a solid head rest instead of a squarish hollow head rest.
Any advice where to start to track this down? I tried buckling the passenger seat as well but no dice.
