Default How to remove exterior trim

Ok. Ive been considering taking the exterior trim off of my cherokee and im not sure how to go about it. Ive read the other threads about this but i havent seen any that anyone showed the before and after or exactly how to do it. Im hoping this thread will help others with the same problems as me...so please post all you know on this subject. any info will help.....

If its just the side trim youre talking about i know on mine its held on with double sided tape.....i know this due to the fact its starting to come off lol

so if you want it off some muscle and goo gone should do the trick

If its the rubber trim just yank it off then use some goo gone or your hair dryer to heat up the glue then roll it off.

thanks for the help i took it off and it looks great. lol im gonna have to find or buy some new trim mine looks like crap. lol. but i only took off a piece to even it out ill post pics later thnx!

something that gets hotter than a hair dryer will make it much easier. i used a ceramic heater and just blasted it. hold it very close to the adhesive and just peel it back(with gloves) then you can use something like goo gone or simple green to clean it up.

using heat also works for the reverse process. When it comes to getting it back on, soap and water, adhesive prep cleaner, microfiber cloth in that order to clean. Then apply to the metal, and use something to support the molding against the door for about 10 minutes to get a solid and strong hold.
